A study in mice demonstrated that the circAKT3 is highly expressed in brain tissue and plays a crucial role in brain development and neurological disorders [Misir et al. DOI:10.1038/s41418-022-00948-7]. A study in human traumatic brain injury (TBI) brain tissues identified the circAKT3 as a top down-regulated circular RNA, with a fold change of 0.44, and its decreased expression was validated by qRT-PCR [Li et al.
