Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the circFOXO3 is specifically expressed in the peripheral blood of aged people and is highly expressed in aged tissues, where it promotes cellular aging and decreases cardiac functions [Sema Misir et al. DOI:10.1038/s41418-022-00948-7]. This circRNA also regulates cell growth by sponging miRNAs and serves as a scaffold forming a ternary complex with p21 and CDK2 to block cell cycle progression [Ines Lucia Patop et al. DOI:10.15252/embj.2018100836].
