A study in humans demonstrated that circNRIP1 is upregulated in serum exosomes from patients with Alcohol Use Disorder, where its expression levels distinguished AUD from non-AUD subjects with an AUC of 0.874 and correlated with AUD severity [Ferguson et al. DOI:10.3389/Fnmol.2022.1032362]. Further research confirmed circNRIP1 is associated with alcohol exposure and is positively associated with the severity of Alcohol Use Disorder [Daws et al. DOI:10.1016/j.mcn.2023.103841].
