A study in humans demonstrated that circNUP133 is significantly decreased in the peripheral blood of Alzheimer's disease patients and may serve to distinguish them from other dementia cases [Misir et al. A study in human neonates demonstrated that circNUP133 hsa_circ_0112327, derived from the NUP133 gene on chromosome 17, was significantly downregulated (Fold Change = -4.26) in peripheral blood from asphyxia-induced acute kidney injury cases compared to matched controls, with this differential expression validated by quantitative real-time PCR [Pan et al.
