Forensic Context

A study in mice demonstrated that the circP4HA1 is highly expressed in early stages of hepatocellular carcinoma, bladder cancers, and breast cancer [Misir et al. DOI:10.1038/s41418-022-00948-7]. In human hepatocellular carcinoma, it promotes stem-like characteristics and tumor growth via the miR-328-3p/HIF1AN axis under hypoxic conditions [Huang et al. DOI:10.3390/cells11091381]. A study in human cervical cancer patients demonstrated that circP4HA1 is a differentially expressed circRNA (DE-circRNA) in cervical tumors versus matched normal tissues, and high expression of its host gene correlates with poor disease-free survival [Li et al. DOI:10.1093/bib/bby006].
