A review of hypoxia-induced circular RNAs in human diseases, including studies in human and mouse models, identified numerous circRNAs with roles in cancer progression, therapeutic resistance, angiogenesis, and energy metabolism [Huang et al. DOI:10.3390/cells11091381]. A study in humans demonstrated that the circRPPH1 was validated as a circular RNA resistant to RNase R and detectable via RT-qPCR and agarose gel electrophoresis, confirming its expression even when its host gene showed no linear RNA expression [Li et al. DOI:10.1093/bib/bby006].
