A study in mice and human-derived cells demonstrated that exosomes from adipose-derived stem cells expressing the circASTN1 promote SIRT1 expression and enhance endothelial progenitor cell function under hyperglycemic conditions, indicating a role in diabetic wound healing [Cheng et al. In human postmortem brain studies, the linear transcript ASTN1 was identified as a target in a circRNA-miRNA-mRNA interaction network within the nucleus accumbens of subjects with alcohol dependence, where it was positively correlated with circRNA-406742 and negatively correlated with miR-1200 [Vornholt et al.
