A study in human bloodstains demonstrated that the circSMARCA5 exhibited linear degradation over 120 days, with its relative expression negatively correlated with bloodstain age both indoors (r=0.81) and outdoors (r=0.91), and it was incorporated into a mathematical formula for estimating the time since deposition [Wei et al. A separate review noted that in human plasma, the circSMARCA5 is lower in patients with more severe coronary atherosclerosis, with an AUC of 0.589, indicating its potential as a diagnostic biomarker for stable coronary artery disease [Tian et al.
