Forensic Context

A study in mice demonstrated that the circSTRN3 is a highly expressed circular RNA in brain tissue whose postmortem degradation pattern was used to construct mathematical models for postmortem interval (PMI) estimation at 4°C, 25°C, and 35°C [Song et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms26104495]. A subsequent review confirmed the circSTRN3 as a new circRNA biomarker for multi-temperature PMI estimation in mouse brain tissue [He et al. DOI:10.1007/s00414-025-03625-9].
