Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that circUBASH3B is specifically expressed in cerebrospinal fluid exosomes and serves as a biomarker for immune-mediated demyelinating disease [Sema Misir et al. DOI:10.1038/s41418-022-00948-7]. A study in humans demonstrated that circUBASH3B is significantly decreased in the peripheral blood of Alzheimer's disease patients and may be used to distinguish AD from other dementias [Misir et al. DOI:10.1038/s41418-022-00948-7]. Further research in humans identified this circulating peripheral blood circRNA as being associated with Alzheimer's disease, reinforcing its potential role as a biomarker [Daws et al. DOI:10.1016/j.mcn.2023.103841].
