A review consolidating research across multiple species, including human, mouse, rat, and C. elegans, indicates that the circZNF609 is downregulated in Hirschsprung disease and functions as a miRNA sponge for miR-150-5p to regulate AKT3, where its silencing inhibits cell migration and proliferation [Lee et al.
