A review of human skin burns, wound healing, and scarring identified 197 miRNAs with altered expression, including the miR-409-5p which was upregulated in burn hypertrophic scar tissue versus normal skin [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. In a separate human study investigating acute coronary syndrome, plasma the miR-409-5p was identified as downregulated in young STEMI patients via small RNA sequencing [Tong et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms19051467]. A study in human epidermal stem cells from normal skin in thermal-induced injury identified the miR-409-5p as dysregulated, associating it with 32 KEGG pathways [Wang et al. DOI:10.1007/s00438-024-02183-w].
