A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with specific miRNAs like the miR-412-5p showing altered expression in human skin tissue post-burn and in hypertrophic scar tissue compared to normal skin [Siu et al. A study in human postmortem brain tissue from individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) demonstrated that the miR-412-5p was downregulated in the amygdala, caudate nucleus, cerebellum, putamen, and ventral tegmental area [Lim et al.
