A study in humans identified the mir-1228 as significantly downregulated in plasma from patients with coronary artery disease compared to controls and validated this finding via qRT-PCR, where it demonstrated diagnostic utility with an AUC of 0.739 [Zhong et al. DOI:10.1002/jcla.23020]. Another study in humans found the mir-1228 was also among the top downregulated microRNAs in acute myocardial infarction patients, with qRT-PCR validation confirming its downregulation and showing a diagnostic AUC of 0.716 [Zhong et al. DOI:10.1002/jcla.23099].
