Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that hsa-miR-423-5p was significantly increased (2.897-fold) in plasma-derived exosomes from acute myocardial infarction patients compared to controls using next-generation sequencing [Kim et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms25179619]. A study in humans systematically evaluated 18 small RNA reference genes in forensically relevant body fluids (venous blood, menstrual blood, saliva, semen, and vaginal secretions) from the Chinese Han population, identifying the mir-423 as an applicable and stable reference gene with high amplification efficiency, ranking among the top stable genes and having the lowest comprehensive ranking value in venous blood and vaginal secretions [Wang et al. DOI:10.1002/elps.202000058].
