A study in Sprague-Dawley rats demonstrated that the miR-423-3p was upregulated in lung tissue at 24 hours after burn injury, with a fold change of 2.94, and its differential expression was part of a profile linked to inflammation and apoptosis pathways [Zhang et al. In traumatic brain injury research, the miR-423-3p is identified as a prognostic biomarker in human plasma, where it is elevated in the acute phase, predictive of severe TBI, and correlated with mortality and a higher risk of amnesia in mild TBI [Li et al.
