A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-425 was upregulated in whole blood of patients with recurrent myocardial infarction after percutaneous coronary intervention, showing significant differential expression with a false discovery rate correction [Onuoha et al. DOI:10.1111/cts.13307]. In a separate human study investigating traumatic brain injury, microarray analysis indicated upregulation of the mir-425 in plasma from patients with mild TBI, though this finding was noted to differ from another study reporting downregulation [Qin et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0204051]. A study in mice demonstrated that the mir-425 was downregulated in corporal tissue in a model of diet-induced erectile dysfunction, with quantitative PCR validation confirming its significant downregulation [Barbery et al. DOI:10.1111/jsm.12793].
