A study in human patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) found the miR-425-5p was upregulated in mild TBI according to microarray results, though this finding differed from another study reporting its downregulation [Qin et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0204051]. In a separate study of human trauma patients, next-generation sequencing indicated the miR-425-5p was more abundant in circulating T cells during the injury stage compared to recovery, though this upregulation was not statistically significant in subsequent RT-qPCR validation [Rau et al. DOI:10.2147/JIR.S375881].
