A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with specific dysregulation patterns observed in human skin tissue and cell lines post-thermal injury [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in mice demonstrated that the mir-1231 regulates Cacna2d2 in myocardial infarction and arrhythmias, where its overexpression in hearts after MI was associated with arrhythmic events and its suppression abrogated arrhythmias [Dykxhoorn et al. DOI:10.3390/Ijms24076584].
