A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-4325 was differentially expressed and shared across five pairs of monozygotic twins, with its expression pattern validated by qRT-PCR [Xiao et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2019.05.003]. The experimental findings, using miRNA microarray and qRT-PCR, showed differential expression in 9 of 18 twin pairs with a 2-fold change criterion and 11 pairs with a 1.5-fold change criterion, indicating its potential role as a biomarker for distinguishing genetically identical individuals in forensic identification.
