Forensic Context

A study in human myocardial autopsy specimens demonstrated that the mir-4488 was up-regulated in septic hearts compared to non-septic controls [Lehto et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-024-81114-6]. In a separate human cell culture model, extracellular vesicles from irradiated astrocytes showed the mir-4488 was significantly down-regulated after 3 Gy proton radiation exposure [Gaines et al. DOI:10.1016/j.lssr.2021.11.001]. A study in human myocardial autopsy specimens demonstrated that the mir-4488 was up-regulated in the hearts of patients deceased with sepsis compared to non-septic controls [Pasi Lehto et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-024-81114-6]. In a separate human in vitro model, extracellular vesicles derived from irradiated astrocytes showed a significant down-regulation of the mir-4488 following 3 Gy proton radiation exposure [Deriesha Gaines et al. DOI:10.1016/j.lssr.2021.11.001].
