Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-450b was upregulated in plasma from patients with isolated traumatic spinal cord injury at emergency room admission compared to healthy controls, a finding validated by droplet digital PCR [Hörauf et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms262210954]. A study in rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) demonstrated that the mir-450b was utilized as a feature in a Day 6 three-group survival prediction model to forecast whether an animal would die in less than 90 days, between 90 and 269 days, or survive the 270-day study following whole thorax irradiation [May et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-022-16316-x]. In human research, the mir-450b was identified as upregulated in venous ulcers compared to normal skin and acute wounds, and it was also upregulated 4 days post-burn in deep partial thickness burn skin versus normal skin [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100].
