Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-450b-3p is upregulated in plasma from patients with isolated spinal cord injury at emergency room admission compared to healthy controls, as validated by droplet digital PCR [Hörauf et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms262210954]. A study in rats demonstrated that the miR-450b-3p was significantly upregulated in myocardial tissues following burn injury, identifying it as a potential biomarker for myocardial damage [Guo et al. DOI:10.1080/09168451.2020.1807901]. In a separate investigation in Wistar rats, the miR-450b-3p was downregulated 1.64-fold in the striatum of heroin-addicted animals, establishing it as a biomarker for heroin addiction [Pence et al. DOI:10.1007/S00221-024-06972-Y].
