A study in humans demonstrated that hsa-miR-450b-5p was upregulated in plasma from patients with isolated traumatic spinal cord injury at emergency room admission compared to healthy controls, a finding validated by droplet digital PCR [Hörauf et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms262210954]. This miRNA was also identified as upregulated in venous ulcers compared to normal skin and acute wounds in human skin tissue research [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100].
