A study in rats demonstrated that the miR-124-3p is significantly upregulated in plasma exosomes 24 hours after traumatic brain injury, with qRT-PCR validation confirming its differential expression [Wang et al. In human forensic research, the miR-124-3p was evaluated as a candidate marker for vaginal secretion but showed no expression or values below the detection threshold (Ct > 35) in that fluid and was consequently discarded from the final discriminatory panel [Altmeyer et al.
