A study in humans identified hsa-miR-454-3p as a miRNA with a potential regulatory role in sepsis, where it was part of a constructed competing endogenous RNA network and was predicted to interact with the core gene IL1R2 [Zhang et al. DOI:10.1186/s12920-023-01460-8]. A study in rhesus macaques demonstrated that the miR-454-3p was identified as a dose-dependent marker, being significantly upregulated in both genders at either radiation dose over time and validated by qRT-PCR to show upregulation at day six post-irradiation [May et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-022-16316-x]. In humans, research on older monozygotic twins found that the miR-454-3p was associated with improved physical function, showing a positive beta coefficient for activity of daily living strength scores in cross-sectional analyses [La Grotta et al. DOI:10.1016/j.mad.2025.112099].
