Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-455-3p is upregulated in venous ulcers compared to normal skin and acute wounds [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100], and a forensic investigation established a multi-class support vector machine classification model using 14 microRNAs for body fluid identification, though the miR-455-3p was not among the selected markers in the final validated panel [Li et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2024.103180]. A study in rats demonstrated that the miR-455-3p was significantly downregulated in skeletal muscle at 24 hours postmortem with a fold change of -16.11 [Guardado-Estrada et al. DOI:10.7717/peerj.15409].
