Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-1246 is a saliva-specific microRNA for forensic body fluid identification, showing specificity even against vaginal secretion [Li et al. DOI:10.1007/s00414-021-02678-w]. In a separate review of human skin conditions, the miR-1246 was found to be upregulated in hypertrophic scar tissue compared to normal tissue [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100].
