A study in humans with coronary artery disease identified the miR-4687-5p as a biomarker for recurrent myocardial infarction risk, finding it was significantly downregulated in whole blood of patients with recurrent MI after percutaneous coronary intervention, though it was not significantly different in plasma samples [Onuoha et al.
