A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-4732-5p was selected as a candidate from microarray and literature for saliva identification but was not further investigated as its expression levels were below those of reference genes in the target body fluid [Sauer et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2016.01.018]. In a separate human study, the miR-4732-5p was identified as a differentially expressed microRNA upregulated in the peripheral whole blood of sepsis patients compared to healthy controls [Qin et al. DOI:10.1097/JCMA.0000000000000209].
