A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with specific miRNAs like the mir-4769-5p showing altered expression patterns in human skin tissue samples post-burn and in hypertrophic scar tissue compared to normal skin [Siu et al. A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-4769-5p was differentially expressed and shared across two pairs of monozygotic twins, suggesting its potential role as a biomarker for distinguishing genetically identical individuals [Xiao et al.
