A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with specific miRNAs like the mir-4782-5p showing altered expression in deep partial thickness burn skin compared to normal skin at defined post-burn timepoints [Siu et al. A study in humans demonstrated that the mir-4782-5p was differentially expressed and shared across two pairs of monozygotic twins, as identified by miRNA microarray analysis of blood samples from 18 twin pairs, with the differential expression profiles validated by qRT-PCR for selected miRNAs, indicating its potential role as a biomarker for distinguishing genetically identical individuals [Xiao et al.
