A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-125b-2-3p is markedly upregulated in trauma plasma and contains pro-inflammatory nucleotide motifs, with a panel including this biomarker distinguishing trauma from healthy controls with a cross-validated AUROC of 0.98 [Ren et al.
