A study in human trauma patients demonstrated that the miR-485-5p was significantly upregulated in circulating T cells during the injury stage compared to the recovery stage and was identified as a hub gene regulating a miRNA-mRNA interactome predominantly involved in the chemokine signaling pathway [Rau et al. DOI:10.2147/JIR.S375881]. In a separate human study on sepsis-induced ARDS, the miR-485-5p was computationally predicted to bind to the upregulated circRNA hsa_circRNA_103899, which was co-differentially expressed in both plasma and lung tissue [Guo et al. DOI:10.1016/j.lfs.2021.119566]. A study in mice demonstrated that the miR-485-5p is a differentially expressed known miRNA in thymus tissue following whole-body ionizing radiation exposure, where it was identified as down-regulated [Chen et al. DOI:10.1080/09553002.2016.1207821]. In human postmortem prefrontal cortex, the miR-485-5p was found to be significantly down-regulated in subjects with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder compared to non-psychiatric controls [Smalheiser et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0086469].
