Forensic Context

A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-489-3p is significantly down-regulated (0.496 of control, p=0.0113) in the prefrontal cortex of antidepressant-free depressed suicide subjects compared to non-psychiatric controls [Smalheiser et al. DOI:10.1371/journal.pone.0033201]. In separate human research on wound healing, the miR-489-3p was also found to be downregulated 24 hours post-injury in skin wounds compared to unwounded skin [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in rats demonstrated that hindlimb unloading downregulated the miR-489-3p by -3.54-fold in skeletal muscle, where it collaborated with miR-182 to upregulate the clnd19 gene [Song et al. DOI:10.1097/BCR.0000000000000444].
