A study in rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) demonstrated that the mir-491 was utilized as a feature in a three-group survival prediction model at Day 3 post-thoracic irradiation, which achieved 71% accuracy in forecasting whether an animal would die in less than 90 days, between 90 and 269 days, or survive the 270-day study [May et al. In a separate review of traumatic brain injury models, the mir-491 was identified as a therapeutic target where its inhibition was found to improve prognosis [Li et al.
