A study in humans evaluating nine candidate precursor microRNA single nucleotide polymorphisms in major blunt trauma patients found that the miR-492 rs2289030C/G was one of the evaluated SNPs but demonstrated no significant association with sepsis morbidity rate or multiple organ dysfunction scores in the screening cohort [Zhang et al. DOI:10.1097/SLA.0000000000000687]. A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-492 is a diagnostic biomarker for myocardial infarction, being upregulated in MI [Shirvani Samani et al. DOI:10.3390/jcm11010005].
