Forensic Context

A review of human studies identified the mir-493 as being upregulated in burn hypertrophic scar tissue compared to normal skin and also upregulated in hypertrophic scar tissue versus normal skin [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) demonstrated that the mir-493 was identified as a feature in a pleural effusion by gender prediction model at Day 15 post whole thorax irradiation [May et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-022-16316-x]. In human plasma, the mir-493 was found to be up-regulated during acute myocardial infarction followed by a decline after revascularization [Wang et al. DOI:10.1186/s40364-024-00690-x].
