A study in humans demonstrated that a combination of circulating miRNAs, including the miR-495-5p, was significantly upregulated in patients with plaque rupture compared to those with plaque erosion, with a diagnostic model achieving an area under the ROC curve of 0.768 in an independent test set [Li et al.
