A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with the miR-503-5p being downregulated in diabetic erectile dysfunction rat penis tissue as screened by sequencing [Song et al. DOI:10.3389/fendo.2022.1034043]. A study in humans and mice demonstrated that the miR-503-5p is significantly changed in both responders and nonresponders to duloxetine and placebo, suggesting an association with metabolic processes independent of clinical antidepressant outcome [Lopez et al. DOI:10.1038/ncomms15497].
