A review of human studies identified the miR-509-3p as being induced in the liver by ethanol exposure [Mandal et al. DOI:10.1002/JAT.3504]. A study in mice demonstrated that the miR-509-3p is significantly upregulated (2.22-fold) in ethanol-fed liver tissues [Francis et al. DOI:10.1074/Jbc.M114.602383], and a review of literature notes it is induced in the liver by ethanol exposure [Mandal et al. DOI:10.1002/Jat.3504].
