A study in human cardiac stromal cells from arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM) patients identified the miR-520c-3p as significantly higher expressed (>4-fold) in ACM samples during an initial screen, but its expression was below detection levels in all validation samples [Rainer et al. DOI:10.1186/s12864-018-4876-6]. Separately, a study in human peripheral blood from physiologically unaffected individuals found the miR-520c-3p was significantly positively correlated with age in a microarray analysis [Meder et al. DOI:10.1373/clinchem.2014.224238].
