A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-1265 was differentially expressed and shared across two pairs of monozygotic twins, as part of a larger analysis of 545 differentially expressed microRNAs in blood samples from 18 twin pairs, suggesting a role for microRNA expression profiles in distinguishing genetically identical individuals [Xiao et al.
