A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with specific miRNAs like hsa-miR-21 and hsa-miR-31 promoting keratinocyte proliferation and migration and being upregulated in hypertrophic scar tissue [Siu et al. A systematic review of human studies found that the miR-532-3p was significantly associated with persistent organic pollutant (POP) exposure, including PCBs, DDE, and HCB, in buffy coats [Kotsyfakis et al. DOI:10.1080/1354750X.2019.1652348].
