Forensic Context

A study in human myocardial autopsy specimens demonstrated that the miR-127-3p was down-regulated in septic hearts compared to non-septic controls and was identified among eight miRNAs with target genes also differentially expressed in septic hearts [Lehto et al. DOI:10.1038/s41598-024-81114-6]. A review of human skin burn and healing studies reported that the miR-127-3p was upregulated in burn hypertrophic scar and its derived fibroblasts compared to normal fibroblasts [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in rats demonstrated that the miR-127-3p was upregulated (1.53-fold) in cardiac tissue one hour after isoproterenol injection, as identified by miRNA sequencing [Hosoya et al. DOI:10.1016/J.Legalmed.2024.102475]. In a separate investigation, the miR-127-3p was identified as a potential biomarker to distinguish acute myocardial infarction from chronic total occlusion in human clinical contexts [Zhou et al. DOI:10.007/s00414-025-03583-2].
