A study in humans demonstrated that the miR-1270 was not significantly influenced by age or sex when tested using a web-based application designed to assess confounding factors for miRNA signatures [Meder et al. DOI:10.1373/clinchem.2014.224238]. In a separate investigation, RNA sequencing of plasma from coronary artery disease patients identified the miR-1270 as one of the top ten upregulated microRNAs, and its expression profile was validated as a potential diagnostic biomarker for the disease [Zhong et al. DOI:10.1002/jcla.23020].
