A review of human studies identified 197 miRNAs associated with wound healing, burn wound healing, and scarring, with specific miRNAs showing altered expression in human skin tissue samples post-burn, during wound healing, and in hypertrophic scar tissue [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100]. A study in humans identified 977 differentially expressed genes in blood from myocardial infarction patients, with mir-5580 being one of the top 10 upregulated DEGs and its expression trend was consistent in an independent validation dataset [Zhao et al. DOI:10.3892/etm.2017.5580].
