A study in human patients with isolated traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) demonstrated that the miR-582-3p was significantly upregulated in plasma at emergency room admission compared to healthy controls, a finding validated by droplet digital PCR [Hörauf et al. DOI:10.3390/ijms262210954]. A study in rats demonstrated that the miR-582-3p is significantly upregulated in the left ventricle one hour after isoproterenol injection, with a 2.55-fold increase identified by deep miRNA sequencing and a 1.66-fold increase confirmed by RT-PCR, indicating its role as a biomarker for early cardiac injury induced by β-adrenergic stimulation [Hosoya et al. DOI:10.1016/J.Legalmed.2024.102475].
