Forensic Context

A study in severely injured human patients demonstrated that the mir-589 was differentially expressed and showed a direct correlation with TLR3 gene expression (P = .01) [Uhlich et al. DOI:10.1016/j.surg.2014.06.017]. In a separate human study of coronary artery disease, the mir-589 was upregulated in the whole blood of patients with recurrent myocardial infarction and remained significant after false discovery rate correction, with associations noted for atherosclerosis and regulation by NRF2 [Onuoha et al. DOI:10.1111/cts.13307]. In a separate human study, the mir-589 was identified as downregulated in the plasma of patients with coronary artery disease compared to controls with normal coronary arteries [Zhong et al. DOI:10.1002/jcla.23020].
