A review of human studies identified the miR-619-5p as upregulated in hypertrophic scar tissue compared to normal skin [Siu et al. DOI:10.1111/wrr.13100], and a subsequent forensic investigation in humans established a multi-class support vector machine model for body fluid identification, where the miR-619-5p was characterized as upregulated in hypertrophic scar tissue and also served as one of the key features selected for the classification model, achieving 98% accuracy on an independent test set [Li et al. DOI:10.1016/j.fsigen.2024.103180].
